10 weeks but worth the wait!
This is the new winter bike that I purchased through the Cycle To Work scheme, which is pretty cheeky as I work from home but what the hell. After 10 weeks of messing about it finally turned up on Wednesday so I had to get out on it this weekend.
The bike comes with an alloy frame, carbon forks, part 105 groupset and fantastic clearance for mudguards. But the mudguards are a pain in the arse to fit... like a 3 hour pain in the arse. Anyway I digress.
First job was to get rid of the RS500 52/36 chainset and pop a 5800 compact on. After that was the mudguards, adjusting saddle & handlebars then finally the mounts and cages.
I enjoyed my first ride out but it is very obvious that the bike is a lot heavier than my carbon Mach 720, so much so that my average speed too quite a knock. But this is not a bad point. It just means that any winter training miles are harder so I will feel the benefit more when I jump on the lighter bike so all is good.
Just hoping I can keep the miles going over the winter holidays and then come April / May I'll be in better shape and can try and get a good end of year total.
