I got them post Kajsa blues!
So.. After all the excitement of 2016 I find myself in 2017 with a slight dilemma on my hands, I now have to motivate myself to get out there on my bike and not rely on my good friend Kajsa to kick me up the behind ..eeeek!
This year Kajsa is having a well earned rest after completing the Guinness World Record attempt of cycling the furthest distance in a year, no mean feat to say the least. She has cycled a total distance of 52,025 km's (32,326 miles) and will be entered into the Guinness Hall of Fame sometime in the coming months. For anyone who doesn't know who Kajsa is, she set out on the 1st Jan 2016 in an attempt to beat a distance set in 1938 by Billie Fleming (29,603 miles). Both truly inspirational women, please google them if you wish to learn more.
Back to me and my own backside kicking. I am, or was, the least motivated person I know..and my own worst critic! "So, what now?" I asked myself after Kajsa's final celebrations on New Years Eve. "I know, I'll get out there on my trusty steed and take some photo's" I thought to myself, "kill two birds with one stone". So that is what I did today, albeit only 2 snapshots and nothing inspirational. But here they are anyway:
Cropston Reservoir
Swithland Memorial Cross
What a beautiful day, the sun was shining bright with not a cloud in the sky, I was so glad to get out there. It was cold and the roads were quite icy but I didn't care, that sun was too good to waste. I managed to navigate my route with no mishaps, although I nearly fell off a couple of times going down Humble Lane near Sileby. Where is a gritter when you need one? I had a nice 20 mile village ride, passing through Rothley, Cropston, Swithland and Quorn. I saw many other cyclists out enjoying themselves today and I had a very enjoyable ride indeed.
To whoever that has read this far I wish you a "HAPPY NEW YEAR"
Here is todays route
