Before, during, and after...Sunrise Coffee & Bicycle Club
The sunrise & coffee group was going to meet in southwest Springfield, close enough that I could attend, but I still wanted to get at least 20 miles in. I started in the moonlight and had put in about 16 miles or so before I arrived at Chesterfield Park. It was in the upper 50s, but a few of the valleys I rode through were 5 to 10 degrees cooler. Still warm enough for cycling shorts and a short-sleeved jersey.
I looked around the park and saw a bicycle headlight on the east side so I followed the trail and joined up with those already there. Not long after that Keith arrived saying he had almost overslept.
He must have made good time because he got there before the sun did!
We visited and took a few photos waiting for 7:05 and the sun.
The sky started glowing, looking almost like the horizon was on fire.
The moment arrived and the final pictures were taken...
We hopped back on our bikes and rode about a block and a half to Travellers. We leaned our bikes against the walls,
took off our helmets, paused our cycling apps and followed our noses inside. We each found something on the menu that called out our names and soon we were savoring the aroma and flavors they had prepared especially for us!
Then, unfortunately, the time came where we had to part company and head back on the road to get on with the rest of our days...
