I Gassed Out

I came to Baton Rouge with one goal in mind: do as much as I could to help people hurt by the flood.

For three solid days, from sun up to sun down, my friend and I hung sheet rock. Now if you have never done this kind of work, you don't realize how labor intensive it can be. And, if you haven't hung sheet rock in five years you tend to forget how labor intensive it is. That was the mistake I made, forgetting.

I was gassed out.

I bonked.

However you want to say it, I couldn't make it three miles Friday morning. I really wanted to get that run in. I was going to be sitting in an airplane and driving my truck most of the day. I needed this.

But, the sheetrock and the Louisiana humidity had stolen my energy. I had nothing left. I did know one thing for sure, I had given my strength and energy to serving other people. If that meant I didn't have the strength to run three miles, that was fine with me.
