Story for Moonville/Zaleski Adventure Run // Blood, Falls, & 12 Water Crossings
Today I explored a large section of the Moonville Rail Trail today at Zaleski starting from Hope Schoolhouse Trailhead. I ran toward the Moonville Tunnel and quickly realized how severe the water crossings were. 12 bridges are out in total with decently deep water in Raccoon Creek. The trail was not maintained in sections between water crossings but somewhat runnable. I ran past King Tunnel before turning around.
I took a really hard hard fall about 7 miles in, catching my toe on a stub and going down on my knee and scratching my butt, knee, elbows, and hands. Felt a twinge in my knee and foot but got up and luckily was okay. That would have been a bad way to end my JFK training!
Before finishing I checked out the new Backpack Trail section from Hope School. This is a new parking lot for the backpack trail to alleviate congestion at the old 278 lot. It's a nice long uphill!
