Story for 18k in Cabo de Gata natural park, Andalusia
Here I'm documenting another trail in the natural park of Cabo de Gata, southern Spain. Hoping it inspires other runners to explore the area, which I find great for outdoor activities, or at to simply put the shoes on and go out for a run.
The parcour starts from la Playa del Embarcadero and follow the coast south to the village of San Jose. On the way back I've chosen a different route, passing by El pozo de los frailes through the sierra and ending at the San Felipe castle. A total of 18km, moslty on rocky and sandy trails.
La Playa del Embarcadero, great for snorkeling. Starting at 6pm turned out to be a wise decision, with the heat of the day fading off.
It's a kind of a hippy place, plenty of folks spending the night there with campers and such - which I find a little scary as after sunset it's just pitch black.
The trail to San Jose is well signed, and the road fairly large.
Another plus of running in the evening: parts of the trail are in the shadow.
Btw, taking all these pics is fun buy very time consuming. Pausing run, resuming run...
From this road is possible to take side paths which lead to hidden calas. Also, the municipality of Nijar does a great job offering info about history and fauna.

Hi, I am KO from Hong Kong. It is glad to know you are one of the developer of Storyteller. Nice work and I write my story everyday here to share with my friends (in Chinese). I don't use facebook, too complicated and too diverse. Storyteller is a real group for sports.
It is also nice to hear you are from this
region as well. It is my second time in Dolomites as I am really enjoy the dream like and a little bit devil like mountain structure. Any recommendation except the well known mountain passes? I am considering Serrai di Sottoguda or Fane Alm - Almdorf.
Hi KO, I'm happy that you use Storyteller and that you like my region! The whole area around Cortina is beautiful indeed, and with Sottoguda and Fane Alm you cannot be wrong. Passo Rolle is also scenic https://goo.gl/w2Jqss , although it's a bit towards south.
Kudos for all the climbs!
