Story for Morning Ride

It started early. In the wind and cold rain. Let a little pressure out of the tires so they would grip. Started off with minimal clothing knowing I would ride hard and warm up. Stopped at 9 minutes in for a slight adjustment and then a minute later, BAM! I was ON for 15 minutes. Not a spectacular wattage but the wind was in my face and I was dripping rain. The pain was tollerable. Finally the last second ticked away and I soft pedaled for 10 minutes while anticipating another slog. My relief came to an end. It was all too short. I hit the lap button on my water-proof Garmin and BAM, I was ON agian for 15 more excruciating minutes, wondering why I was out here doing this while my family slept away in their warm beds. The pain was intense this time and the seconds moved slower than normal it seemed. All the while the rain got worse and the wind picked up. Finally, finally, the timer beeped and my purgatory came to an end. 10 minutes of easy cruising was all that was left. Piece of cake. 600 seconds passed.....I un-clipped, unplugged the fan, wiped the sweat off the floor, removed my shoes, climbed the step, and briefly looked back at my bike in the trainer before I flicked the light off in the garage.
