Big Walker via Waddletown
Saturday is a big day for me. I'm taking on the biggest ride I have ever ventured on. It's a 37.4-mile ride with 3,216 feet of elevation gain. I'm not prepared like I was the last time I rode the Tour de Bland. My riding lately has not been where I wanted it.
This ride, though, helped me to know I can do it. I will be slow, very slow, but I will be able to finish the ride. The reason I am so concerned it that the route climbs on of the two tallest ridges in our county. One of them, East River Mountian, I have conquered before. But, I was also in a lot better shape then too.
On top of the altitude of the climb, there will still be another 25-miles to hammer out after the climb. That still has me nervous. That is why this ride had to be done. I had to know I could make the climb and still manage a non-stop ride back to town. It may not have been my best climbing effort ever but I made the ride from town to the top without a rest break. And then from the top, after a short break, to town also without a rest break.
Boo-yeah!
I got this.
There's a store at the top of Big Walker Mountian.
I think it looks good parked there.
