A Week Of Gravel Grinding
the start of october marks the beginning of the season where after-work rides require lights. while they don’t have to be switched on heading out, they have become necessary on the leg back home. wednesday i managed to catch a wonderful sunset. friday the sky was dark but the clouds didn’t drop their luggage. saturday morning i left for a longer loop to reach the primary climb of the day from villeret to les limes du haut. a huge cattle jam just outside the village killed any hope to go for a kom. the forecast for sunday was snow down to 1200 meters. i left for a morning loop across the chasseral. beyond an elevation of 1400 meters it got foggy as heck and visibility dropped to like no more than 20 meters. it got a little cold as well. i should have grabbed a pair of long finger gloves this morning, but well, i didn’t. so, the hands got to hurt on the upper downhill stretches.
