After a week with a head cold, the weather did not encourage me to go out for the club ride, it hammered down until 10 AM. Luckily I could shuffle my day to go out on my bike, although on my own.
I went out Legoland, the long way to Twyford, pushing a bit only at Billingsbear, up towards Playhatch, with bits of rain and a very muddy, wet surface (more about this later). I went down towards Henley but instead of turning towards the Golf Course I went up to Sonning Common (always a testing climb) and then down past Greys Court and finally into Henley. I wanted to do Balhams Lane to Turville Heath, but I pushed up towards Pishill coming down, fastish, Dolesden and then Fingest, Freith and Marlow. The cold didn't seem to affect me much, but I wasn't pushing either, trying to stay consistent at 25Kmph. Past Marlow bridge (still only open to cyclists and pedestrians - bliss), I went up Switchback and down to Cookham via Winter Hill, by this point the wind was strong and in my face. I rode down to Maidenhead and then towards Dorney. By the turn from the A4 I noticed I had a slow puncture, but couldn't be bother to stop with 10 km to go and decided to push on unless it became unrideable, it was a bit tough with the wind, but managed to get home. I had time to clean the bike (and the Summer one, too!) but will change the tyre later on next week. First proper Wintery ride.
