Engadine Photography Hike

The weather forecast was for sunshine, and the famous larch trees in the Swiss Engadine valley should be turning to autumn yellow.  So for once, we went out on a hike with the specific objective of photography! Usually, Caroline gets impatient if I hang around too long to get the perfect shot, but today we agreed that that the photography would be the main deal ... so I packed my camera backpack with Nikon D300, 3 lenses, filters, and even my tripod (which I didn't use in the end). 

We took the train to St Moritz, then the bus to Maloja, then spent the day hiking 20km back to St Moritz along the lakes of Sils and Silvaplana. Almost got our feet wet when we went off the trail to photograph some trees at the lakeside and had to cross an icy river to get back! Here's that river:

Had a great day, and came back with some good photos - everyone happy :)
