Canaccord Corporate Cup event 2
The second event of this year's 5k summer corporate series took place in half decent conditions. It was a little warm but breezy. Really quite breezy.
On this occasion, I set out hoping for a sub 25 minute run but not really expecting it since I just felt my training had drifted a little while taking in long runs with hills in preparation for the upcoming Durrell Challenge.

I set off trying to follow a work colleague, before quite quickly realising that was a 13.5km/h pace which I really REALLY wasn't going to stick at all event long.
And really for much of the race I just set a pace on allowed it to fade a little. I was never going to bring everything to this specific race. I had to be vaguely human and non-sweaty during the afternoon so a little bit was always staying in the tank.
So my km pace went from 4:37 to 4:47 then 4:49 and 4:55. The course ends with an out and back along a breakwater and at the end of it I walked a few seconds just to cool and relax a fraction so the 5th kilo was down at 5:07.
But all in all I finished 5k in 24:15 and the slightly longer course in 24:45 and I was totally happy with. Sub 25 was the top end of my hours so that was a great run.
On to the Durrell next!
