Story for End Of BST Early Ride
That 'extra hour in bed' I was supposed to get with the clocks going back in the UK translated into waking up at normal time, only it was 6am. Bored and restless I took full advantage of an exceptionally mild October morning and pedalled into the mist at 7.30am. The usual traffic dodging exercise of exiting my town was replaced with an effortless cruise into the lanes and two hours of peaceful cycling. Even in the overcast conditions the autumn colours shone, a beauty lost on the head down, backside up rider who flew by me on one especially glorious tree lined lane.
My ride ended just as the local club was heading out, swamping the entire road in the process without so much as a wave or nod. As founding Chairman that's not what I envisaged.
Anyway, my ride was perfect in it's solitude and a repeat performance is booked for next Sunday.
